Life can be busy. We often have to deal with a number of responsibilities, including work obligations and deadlines, as well as family and social commitments.

Finding the ‘right’ work-life balance is important

It helps to improve our general health and wellbeing. We feel more energetic and productive, more focused and overall we feel less stressed and much happier.

Schedule some down time

There are many strategies that can help improve your work-life balance. One such strategy is taking some time out alone (without feeling guilty!).

In our fast-paced world today, taking time out to rest and relax is essential. It helps to recharge our batteries, but also inspires creativity and innovation.

It furthermore often gives us a renewed perspective on a range of events and issues.

So engage in an activity that you find fun and relaxing, or try something new.

Drumming is one such example

It provides the opportunity to focus on an activity that is stimulating and therapeutic. The rhythmic beats from the middle-eastern and African regions are quite relaxing and meditative – in particular, through mindfulness.

Drumming provides the perfect opportunity to be fully present; embracing that moment by focusing on the sequence of beats, the timing and what comes next.

There is no room to think about anything else but that particular moment.

Regularly practicing mindfulness has many benefits including:

  • reducing our stress (we’re more calm and relaxed)
  • improving our focus and concentration
  • helping us connect with the world and those around us
  • improving our mood and relationships

For me, I always leave the drumming classes much more energised and productive. Any work-related stress I may be experiencing is reduced. Overall, I feel a greater sense of happiness and wellbeing.

So whether you want a break away from work or the routine of life, and want some fun doing it, then a drumming class may be exactly what you need!

Ready to improve your work-life balance?

If yes, schedule some regular down time for yourself – a little break can do wonders.

Like developing any skill, improving your work-life balance and incorporating more mindfulness into your day, takes consistent practice.

With a little effort, you can achieve the results you’re after.

Until next time, wishing you all great health and wellbeing and a healthy work-life balance.
